Make the calculation's inputs explicit
Configure the states where the company is registered, then supply the relevant shipping destination and product tax facts for supported invoices, estimates and sales orders. The calculation uses the available rate catalogue and records a line-level explanation. Missing full ZIP coverage has an explicit state-base fallback, rather than silently pretending a precise local rate was found.
Keep exemptions and remembered facts reviewable
Customer exemption certificates have dates, state scope and private supporting files. Valid certificates, not an arbitrary imported customer flag, determine the managed exemption treatment. Supported business-service answers can be remembered for a customer or product, while explicit document answers take priority. Saved calculation evidence supports later review and the Sales Tax Register.
What to know before you start
Registration and product-tax decisions require professional review. Historical or connector-owned documents are not automatically retaxed, and no parity with a separate accounting platform's native tax center is promised.

Is an imported customer tax flag enough to grant exemption?
No. The managed calculation evaluates the valid exemption certificate for the document date and relevant state.
Does changing a rate catalogue rewrite old sales?
No automatic historical retaxing is implied. Recorded calculations retain their evidence; new managed calculations use the supported current catalogue.
